Lambarena and Voluntaries Texas Ballet @ Bass Performance Hall

Description:
An eclectic mix of repertoire including works by Glen Tetley, Val Caniparoli, and Texas Ballet Theater’s Artistic Director, Ben Stevenson, O.B.E. Lambarena and Voluntaries showcases the wide range of moods possible with ballet and the talented dancers of Texas Ballet Theater.

One of the first choreographers to break through the barriers dividing classical from modern dance, Tetley embraces the whole spectrum of movement. His piece Voluntaries, created in 1973, was his first with the dancers on pointe. It enthralls audiences with its athleticism, drama, and intensity.

An exciting addition to the show will be three varied pas de deux, including Sylvia, an exciting bouncy duet, and the beautifully expressive Laila and the Swan, based on a Greek myth featuring a strong male swan and the tender Laila.

Val Caniparoli’s Lambarena is an upbeat-energetic feast for the eyes. Texas Ballet Theater is thrilled to present this piece that celebrates two cult
